Tuqa Nusairat is the Executive Director at ISPU, where she is responsible for the institution’s overall leadership, representation, strategy, and growth. A recognized leader in the American Muslim community, she brings several decades of experience in civic engagement, advocacy, organizational management, and youth development. Tuqa is a frequent expert voice on the civic and democratic participation of Muslim communities in the United States, the portrayal of American Muslims in media and politics, and the dangers of Islamophobia. She also brings deep expertise in U.S. policy in the Middle East, having previously served as Director for Strategy, Operations, and Finance for the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Programs, where she managed Washington-based fellows and staff while contributing research and analysis on political reform, civil society, and human rights across the region. Her commentary and analysis have appeared in major national and international outlets including the Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Foreign Policy, and Zeteo, among other national and international outlets. She is based in the Washington, DC area.
